It’s been a long time since I had anything with beef.

I’m not a beef eater, but when I get the chance for a plate, I’m taking it.

Usually, the beef I’d enjoy back home would be bone-in and cooked in a delicious stew dish called Jamaican Stew Peas.

Look out for that recipe soon!

So, going back to our stir fry dish, I’ve tried this recipe a few times, and I’m pleased with the results to share with you guys.

Beef stir fry Recipe - TheShyFoodBlogger

I’ve never made stir-fried anything before, but it’s a dish I’ve been excited to make since I saw the supermarket had a deal on beef strips and other meats.

So, let’s dive right into my Jamaican-style Stir-Fry Beef.

What is Stir-Fry?

Simply put, it’s a method of quickly frying vegetables and small amounts of meat on high heat in a lightly oiled wok or pan.

This method of cooking originated from the Chinese around 1500 years or earlier.

It made its way to America by early Chinese immigrants, and many non-Asian cuisines have adapted this method.

While the stir fry is not popular in the Caribbean, it is a method I would love to incorporate more in my cooking as I explore more food.

Ingredients To Use

I like to make this dish in steps.

Tips For Making Stir Fry Beef

These tips are what I used to help me make the best stir fry right at home, and so can you.

Stir Fry Beef Strips with White Rice
  • Fry beef strips in batches to prevent overcrowding the pan.
  • Switch things up with other vegetables such as string beans, broccoli florets, cauliflower florets, or any other veggies of your choice.
  • Substitute white wine for broth or rice vinegar. You can also use water.
  • I recently learned that using baking soda can tenderize your meat. It works great for this recipe.
  • Remove scotch bonnet pepper for less spice, or remove seeds before chopping up.
  • For a more authentic stir-fry dish swap, the flour with cornstarch. The cornstarch or flour absorbs excess moisture from the meat.

Storage Tips

Keep any leftovers in an airtight container in your refrigerator for 3-4 days.
